Hi
can someone suggest me good enclosures for 2.5" disk. i have seen few around which are cheap and often brake also causing loose connections near the interface. i am also looking for something portable where the hdd inside stays steady as we all know how delicate 2.5" disks are.

so far i have looked at http://www.trademe.co.nz/Computers/External-storage/Other/auction-206655562.htm.

Are you looking for a SATA or and IDE one ?

There is this for IDE 2.5 drives and this or this for SATA Drives.

I have personally stuck drives in all of these and can attest that they are reasonably solid.

If you look at the drive and there are a lot of pins in two rows, then It's an IDE drive, if there are two L shaped connectors (one big one small) then it's a SATA drive.

Hmm, that is very cool. I don't think you sold this up enough (understandable due to working for the place), so I'll do it.

Having a 2.5" external esata / usb case, that docks into a computer so you can have full speed access to the data for backups is a very good idea.

The esata docking station is what really makes this cool.

I think I'm going to be "needing" one of these soon.

And it looks good.

i am not so much into docking. i would just like a solid built case. so my 2.5" drive is safe.

I think seagate makes some good Ext HD cases. My suggestion would be to make sure the HD case comes with a built in fan that works. Ext HD's can overheat and u'll want a good cooling source.
