hi all,
just recently i installed an automatic garage opener (merlin brand) for my garage, i find that i accidentally push the open button a lot (e.g when i put the remote in my pocket and sit down it opens the garage door) and the garage door is left open.

Is there a device which i can install which would tell me in someway if the garage door is open ???

Get a magnetic sensor and connect it to a buzzer.

What does the remote look like? Some have 1 big button (too easy to operate) and a smaller one that is less likely to be pushed accidentally. You could reset the door to use the small button. I had an earlier model and solved the problem by gluing a guard over the button so I had to poke my finger through a hole to get to it.
