Yesterday moved cash from bank to Wise so could transfer to Australia, that money arrived into Wise this morning.

Normally in Wise I type in the amount to send, it converts NZ  to Australian dollars, it asks for the recipient which is already in the Wise app, click send and it sends to the recipient usually in minutes.

This time I go through the same procedure and instead of sending immediately it gives me a number of options including using Apple or Credit card to send the transfer. I press the first option which shows the wise tag. And it tells me that I need to wait possibly 24 hours for it to authorise from my bank when the funds are already in Wise. It also gives me my Wise tag to give to the bank should they ask.

I cancelled twice and started again, same situation. It won’t take from the Wise funds deposited in my Wise account and wants to send via the bank. I’ve never added a bank account to Wise but guessing it would know from the bank account Wise receives deposits from

Am frustrated. Is there some new law that doesn’t allow sending money from Wise?

When I click the "Send" button, it shows me who I've sent money to previously and I can select them and go from there. Looks like it's direct as it states they should receive the money immediately.

Thats how it used to work and it still shows the same way, it’s only after you go through the rest of the steps that you end up in the bank limbo.

Will try and send a dollar to a NZ recipient and see if it’s the same.

If it doesn't work for you I'll try send a couple of dollars to my wife to see if it works.

Sending to NZ went directly to using Main Account which is what I wanted.

Sending to Aus, it reverted to four options to send from including credit card and Apple. Went back and forth a few times and finally found the Main Account option which doesn’t show initially. It sent immediately.

The Wise rate was about 82 cents in the conversion App, but when I sent from the Wise main account it came up as 81 cents. Just be aware when sending as it messes up, eg I noted the amount was wrong and altered the NZ amount but it didn’t change it in the Oz field, lucky I noticed, had to erase both fields and start over,, could easily have pressed send and they would have been short by a substantial amount but my $NZ would have been debited by the high amount. Definitely some glitches so be very careful at each step. Not impressed and a time waster this morning. Sent them feedback.

Pleased you found a way to make it work. I've also spent this morning wasting time on tech issues that simply shouldn't exist. Very annoying indeed. Enjoy the rest of your day.
