Two quick questions about their delivery methods/missed delivery.

1 Are packages sent by apple with them delivered by a TNT courier or is it contracted out to say NZ couriers or DHL and the like

2 If you are not home when they deliver a signature required package where is it left to pick up eg post office or do they try again until you are home

I live in a small town north of Christchurch called Kaiapoi and have to go to school between 830am and 3pm.

My experience of buying from the Apple store is that TNT deliver to the end destination if it's in a main centre CBD, otherwise they hand it over to a third party courier (in my case Courier Post, but that was a couple of years ago so the contract may have changed).

If you are not home then the courier should leave a calling card inviting you to contact them to arrange a suitable time for delivery or, alternatively, to pick it up from their depot. If you opt to pick up from the depot then I suspect that will mean a trip into Christchurch.

Thats what I was expecting which in my case may be a good thing as the courier post driver does a run down my street at 8am almost every morning so it will mean someone will be at home. hopefully if i can opt for a different delivery time it means i can get it delivered after school when i will be home.

The package I was expecting from them was delivered by NZ Couriers This morning so it must be different around the country. Now i have to hope I am Home when they deliver the iPod
