I read this article last week, I think I will be sticking to Firefox with Adblock Plus for now :)

Excellent article. To be honest I never thought about that side of the coin.  Rightly or wrongly I assumed that ads on websites only generated income when people clicked on them.

The main reason I installed the addon was to help speed up website browsing by reducing the number of ads being displayed to me - and I achived this.

I have now white-listed my most visited sites (geekzone is one of these) in light of your link.

Thanks for showing me that! :)

That's interesting... I read this same comment before. People don't realise there are LOTS of different ad types, with different payment models.

Blocking ads is a sure way to cut revenues to website owners - in my case I work full time on Geekzone and use revenue to pay for infrastructure (colocation, firewall, server, software license, development, bandwidth, backup), other costs (travel, stationery, accountant), salary (myself), tax (incoming, GST) and more.

No, Geekzone doesn't run on a $20/month platform.

I found 10.5 beta to be slower loading google than any of the other browsers. And for that reason, I'm out.
