Not sure if this is a good idea, posting it here. If it is not, then close it. But I have to have a word.

It's not like a good thing I say, as my current status living in NZ as a PR. But I really think that only New Zealander should be allowed to own New Zealand. I mean, in Thailand for example, if you want to buy a house you have to be Thai citizen. I know New Zealand has a law to protect "crown" property but that's protecting nothing.

What do you think?

While I don't really think these millionaires buying huge (and really nice) plots of lands for holiday homes and the like is very good, one must take into account what it would mean if only New Zealand citizens could own land. It would smack of protectionism and as a result would probably turn people away from this country.

I'm sure that if the same applied to ownership or investments of businesses that New Zealand wouldn't have as many businesses trading here.

Yes, our national treasures should be treasured and kept for future generations rather being sold again... but does it really make a difference if the person is a rich New Zealander or a rich foreigner? I'd rather not have treasured land go to either of them.

And should the people coming here to live and work be forced to rent?

I'm not trying to troll or flame you in any way... but it will be interesting to see how others react.

I know what you mean, but for those people that by the land in New Zealand but not interested in living here shouldn't be allowed to own the land. One may say I compare things to Thailand too much, but people never stop going to Thailand for holiday nor doing business. But only Thai citizen can own Thailand land.

<I don't normally staying up late either, got a test in the afternoon, just need a distraction while reading... before getting stress out>
