Check out the new "look and feel" to Gmail, coming very shortly!

Quite like how it simplifies the view and de-clutters.

And then?

Would be good if you added a few reasons as to why you think Hotmail is better.  In what ways?

Just logged into gmail and to my surprise there was a "switch to the new look" button down the bottom left.  Its an improvement but nothing revolutionary.

SWITCHED... But I have been using the "beta" Theme for a while... to me this is a good move for being adaptive/responsive.

I use Yahoo, I find its clean and more usable, the previous version was more Outlook Express like, than this newer version. I went to GMail last weel and I hated it, so cluttered, Hotmail wasn't too bad. But I still like Yahoo

Urrgh.... maybe its the theme Im using, but its now added huge spaces between each email.... so I now see 1/2 the emails on screen I use to..

Update : Nope its not my theme.

You can make it "cozy" or "compact".

+1. There is a settings "cog" icon at the top right of the main inbox that allows you to switch to cozy or compact.
Compact is actually quite bearable. The other two are just horrible. I want as much information on screen as can be comfortable to read. What's the use of a 1920x1200 monitor when the mail is stretched out all over the screen and requires me to constantly scroll.

I prefer "comfortable" - spaces help with ease of focus on email.

I like it, I dont use gmail online much as I prefer thunderbird with imap, but the new look and feel hopefully is the start of all google services becoming much more integrated and standardised.

In your inbox or in your spam box?
I get spam in my spam box on gmail. But in hotmail I get a ton in my inbox
