Hey guys, just bought an ITX case and a Micro atx motherboard.

these do not fit !!!

while i sit in sorrow, tell me about your experiences with buying the incorrect sized cases/motherboards

Always got the mobo/case combination right myself, except one time when the shop substituted a case due to no stock (they did ask me, but i didnt notice the substitute wasn't right) that could take a full size atx board, for one that could only take micro atx so that was annoying.

My trick in the past is usually forgetting to order something vital like say dvd drive, or ram or something so these days I have a mental checklist I always go through several times.

yea my mental checklist is awesome, however i must have been too fast at reading and assumed m-atx instead of i-tx

on the bright side, case is being modded completely and stuff is being FORCED in :)

squeezing micro atx into a small itx case = a good day in the garden shed

myself and my mate are hacking and slashing trying to get everything to fit :)
i dont think computer lounge will be that friendly...

yeeaaah lol we are its pretty sleek dont even notice the cut outs etc. but those cases are pretty awesome. some people gota lot of time and money haha

i dont think it will look that extreme, but when its done ill show you :) currently it wont boot, think i brokedededed my PSU :((

Haha done this all the time with server components. Full length cards is the classic. The most recent was I ordered a SAS breakout cable for a short length case and thought 0.5m would be enough, it is for the first 2 out of 4 drive bays (which is luckily all I need for now).

Other things include not reading the max number of HDD bays, forgetting to order CPUs and the most classic is incompatible RAM.

I was new to the whole scene around that time haha. It was one of those slimline HP biz PC's. I still have it. Fairly decent but its in an official case now. Haha. I've learnt my lesson.

I once tried to upgrade an old Dell PC with a new motherboard, cpu, ram, psu etc.

It was the first time Id done something like that so pulled it all apart with photos and labelled everything so I knew how to put it all back together again. I had everything in with the last plug to attach being the power to the switch on the case.

Of course Dell had a proprietory switch and it wouldnt work so I had to go out and buy a new case, but they wouldnt sell me just the case I had to buy one with another psu :(
