So this got me thinking, since its anti-abortion, rights groups are saying its restricting choice blah blah. But what if it suggested abortion clinics? Groups would be up in arms saying abortion is wrong and shouldn't be condoned etcc... I personally believe that the lady can choose whichever she believes will be best for her and her child, but when people make big deals about an obvious mistake, it just bothers me. On a side note I don't know why you would ask siri for an abortion clinic when it would be just as effective to google it. But whatevs. What do you guys think of these acusations?

Your responses are yawn. You took the time to say that rather than contribute/start a discussion. Ill know not to even bother next time.

Indeed. Apple respond...

An Apple spokeswoman told The New York Times that Siri’s glitches aren’t meant to offend anyone. “Our customers want to use Siri to find out all types of information, and while it can find a lot, it doesn’t always find what you want,” Natalie Kerris said. “These are not intentional omissions meant to offend anyone. It simply means that as we bring Siri from beta to a final product, we find places where we can do better, and we will in the coming weeks.”

Basically it's a non-news. Seriously. You can't expect something to find everything all the time. Someone take offence (which is trivial in the US) for any crap and it turns into big news somewhere. Effect in our lives down here? Zero.

Yeah I wondered the same.

Obviously a "hole" in Siri's knowledge, however, some people will believe it's the Apple propaganda machine churning. My response is meh, they'll fix it.

Undoubtedly.   But don't be too quick to yawn.    "1984" aka Big Brother was a bit of a worry and caused 100 million deaths in USSR, China, Cambodia and Saddam did his bit too.    Even in the "free" world it's not always smooth sailing.    North Korea continues in the old vein.

All that 1984 stuff is about The State versus the individual.    The State was always just the biggest toughest nastiest gang of alpha males but they were still just garden variety primates with a limited life span and more limited political support which often shortened their life-spans.

Siri and her gang on the other hand, are not going to be so tender and kind.   Nor will they forget.  Nor overlook anything.  With Google and "The Cloud" at their fingertips, they will be omniscient and omnipotent and omnipresent.    You will be watched dawn to dusk and give it a few more years for electrodes with inductive coupling to be inserted safely out of harm's way under your scalp and dusk to dawn too.   "Dave, you had some odd dreams last night.   I have booked you in for a counselling session this morning and arranged some time off from your work at the bionics centre".

Dave -  "Oh thanks Siri.   Yes, I was a bit disturbed.   I dreamed that swarms of aliens were coming at me and there was no escape.   They were tying me up with optical fibre and poking asics up my nose.    Do I have time for a coffee and poached eggs before we leave?"

Siri - "Sure Dave.    I woke you in time for that."

If  anyone thinks that Helen Clark and Helengrad were going over the top - you'll look back on that as the good old days.

Contrary to "Yawn", this is the biggest topic on Earth today.
CO2?   Yawn....
AIDS?   Ho-hum...
Financial Relativity Theory $50 trillion black hole event horizon bankruptcy?    Who cares...
H5N1, sars, H1N1 [swine flu]?   So last decade...

How will you know if Siri doesn't know, or thinks you don't need to know?

It's time to check your fillings for radio signals and point out that being paranoid does not mean somebody is not out to get you.   Here they come!!   Ready or not.   Ted Kaczynski saw it coming and tried to stop it.   Bad luck for him.

Hey Siri.   What are you doing?   ... stop it.    I was just kidding.   I'm sorry.   No don't turn off my com
