Rdio released in NZ yesterday. www.rdio.com. Seemed like a pretty quiet launch. They beat Spotify to the game!

cheers for the heads up btw :)

Maybe that is why they haven't advertised it, could just be a soft launch with more content coming online soon?

Wow, there's a bunch of NZ artists that "aren't avaliable in your region"..

Still pretty fail, publishers/etc still aren't getting it!

I got the press release today and a trial code. I will try when back in Wellington and contact the PR if I can confirm the "missing" content. But I expect the reply to be "some content owners decide which regions can have this or that..."

They replied on twitter saying they are working on updating the NZ/AUS catalog full time at the moment.

No it is very good and it starts playing almost immediately on a Vodafone 3G connection. About the same as iTunes match. I had played around with Spotify on the same phone connection and it actually started faster. Immediate playback on every song.

Now I've had a good chance to play around with this, i love the idea and the way it works but it isn't going to take off in NZ because too much content is blocked.

Don't really know why they bothered....

Let me ask a question about blocked content... Are you able to legally get this blocked content in any other way online?

Yes, online music stores sell the mp3 files like bandit.fm or vodafone music store/itunes ect... you know this.

Whats your point?

I've been using RDIO for a few days now - have it on iOS and Windows Phone (will try Android soon). Very nice Windows Phone app including the ability to pin an artist to the home screen.
