Nikkim:
Thanks that would be great! I was contacted a couple of days ago (10 months and one day since my application was submitted) to confirm details so hopefully not long now :)
Sounds like they are working through Level 4 then. 👍

The ceremony has to happen as it is when you swear allegiance to Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, Queen of New Zealand and Her Other Realms and Territories, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith (unless the status quo changes before your ceremony).
Not true. Last year it was:
"Those already approved for citizenship will be sent their citizenship certificates. Further information is available at citizenship.govt.nz"
Yes thats correct, last year certificates were sent out during lockdown and you weren't required to attend a ceremony.
I emailed the local council contact on my invite and they already replied; they are waiting for direction from DIA which they may get tomorrow when the lockdown levels are evaluated. They also said that we would need to be at least level 2 for it to go ahead (and that even at level 2 they would need to reduce numbers).
Also this is on the DIA website as of 7 days ago (https://www.govt.nz/browse/passports-citizenship-and-identity/nz-citizenship/how-to-apply-for-nz-citizenship/citizenship-ceremonies)
Yes, I was just being pedantic and post her full title.

That's awesome. Not long now. 😀

I'm trying to lodge my citizenship application. Today is my 240th day.
I'm having issue with the identity check. DIA need to verify in realtime my identity and I need the email link to do it which hasn't arrived yet.
It has been 6 hours since the last time I tried to cancel the previous invite in the hope they'll send a new one.
Could it be the lockdown or the weekend.

Got it sorted, was using a device without a camera hence the prompt to verify real-time didn't worked. I used my phone instead.
Just an update.
The local council emailed me this morning to say my citizenship ceremony has been cancelled due to the current lockdown levels. They said DIA will be in touch to advise what will happen next - but Im guessing the certificate will be posted out.
tchart:Thanks for the update. It's helpful know what to expect with the lockdown and ceremonies :)

rdjr1719:Have you heard back yet?
I applied mid-October 2020
Received an email from DIA to confirm name, dob, etc on the 14th of July.
Still no news until now.

Hey,
Couldn't re-log in to that account.
Haven't heard anything. I did email earlier this week as a reply to the email from DIA to get an update but nothing. I am based in Akld though so I dunno if they are operational.
I applied in December 2020, nothing yet. Because of this delay, now I have to renew both wife's & my existing passport ($120 per person) and then transfer the visa to the new passport ($$) and then cancel the passport once the citizenship is approved :(
Rmani
You don't need to cancel your other passport once you get New Zealand citizenship - unless you are renouncing the other one.
