MadEngineer: When you double click a word to select it for copying it will be selected along with the space immediately following it.

Pro tip: on the second click of the double click hold it down then move the mouse slightly as if you’re going to drag a larger selection and you’ll find that the space becomes unselected.

Or try to disable "When selecting, automatically select entire word" as seen here.

Keep extension cords from unplugging when pulled on

How to prevent your extension cords from unplugging

I do like this version, looks very neat. Does require an extra tool though

A simple overhand knot loosely tied with the two cords before plugging them into each other will also work.

neb: Followup, it feels like it's styrene-butadiene and a search on that turned it up, the official name is Konishi Bond GP Clear. So even if there's no Daiso nearby you can still get it from eBay, Amazon, and the like.

Just tried to get some more of this and it looks like it's been discontinued, at least under the Konishi name. This is a real pain because there's nothing else that does what this glue can do. Daiso may possibly still have some old stock here, but after that there's no alternative :-(.

Edited to add: It looks like it may have been replaced by Konishi Ultra SU, which might be available at some point.

Bung: I do the onion beside the stove with extractor running. Fumes go up vent.

Rick Stein was slicing something on a mandolin saying how dangerous they could be as he took the tip off a finger. Mandolin biffed into rubbish.

Sharp knives can be nasty as well, if you're not paying attention. This (gross, possibly NSFW) was from a super-sharp knife wielded while distracted.

If I'm slicing something in quantity, I use my Magimix.

It slices like a Mandolin but in seconds.

Run the onions under water. Peel/slice or slice/peel run them under water. It reduces the fumes

Yeah I do that too as it seems to make it easier to remove the peel

I wasn't hating - just being a smartA.

I do put our rangehood removable aluminium filters into the dishwasher periodically - great idea, works well. I do the same with the cast iron frames from around our gas hob.

I know I am late to this reply (about ten months late) but is it a hack if it's in the manual?

At least my rangehood says it in the manual "wash filters in the dishwasher".

I'd be very surprised if a manual for a rangehood with aluminium filters suggested that you put them in the dishwasher.

I am not checking the type of filters but I read on the manual that filters can be washed on dishwasher. I can scan the page tomorrow and post here.

I also wash my filters in the dishwasher but because they are aluminium they discoloured. I don’t care as long as they are clean but it pays to know this result.

In the past I used Sugar Soap to soak them in to cut grease but it was a messy job. Dishwasher makes them spotless

I just mention to my wife in passing that they’re “a bit grubby” and a few days later - voila! They’re clean again. It’s like magic.
