Thats understandable, and its a sad state of affairs when a Statute determines how you live your life and determines if a new life will exist or not.

Unfortunately the State has to intervene or things would be far far worse especially for the children. I have seen those on this thread that are completely willing to pay their share and that is fantastic however in the real world they are in a small minority. It is a sad inditement  on our society that the State
needs to intervene and that a large percentage of individuals do not want to take responsibility for the children they bring into the world.
The system we have is not perfect and I think even the complexity of the subject I don't think it can ever be, but, it is way better then the system we had before.

I would agree that there is a smaller percentage of us that have no problem paying child support I just disagree with the new way that it is calculated.

I also agree it was time for a change as the old system was not up to the grade however I do not think there is enough flexibility in the new one and the ability to be able to take other factors into account.

What pisses me off is when I see guys going around the system and paying next to nothing thats really gets my hackles up.

The system pre Child Support system with Liable Parent Contribution and Maintenance was terrible, the later was as successful as one party's Lawyer was and how much money the non custodial parent could pay for the Lawyer. The current system needs some fine tuning but with regards to the many not paying
a percentage of them are in a situation where it is impossible to get blood from stone, there are also many who don't give a toss and just refuse to pay and do everything to avoid their responsibility.

Good choice.

It's not as if the planet needs any more anyway.

I'd say the vast majority of people, even some of the ones who are hard done by with the new system, wouldn't trade their kids for not having to make payments. I am not trying to convince you not to have kids, but realistically, if this was your only reason, you would be losing far more than you would gain by not having kids.

The worst thing I could imagine in the world would be for my wife to have an affair, somehow get sole custody and me not be able to see them as much as I wanted. I can understand (Not condone) how people go crazy and do crazy things when prevented from access to their kids.

Having three sons has been the best thing we have ever done, they are my best friends.

That's...an interesting idea. My parents are in a box labelled "Parents" where they fulfil a specific set of roles, being my friend is not one of them though! Mentor, supporter, last line of defence etc possibly, but not friends.

As the saying goes, choose your friends carefully, because you can't choose your family!

Life without kids would be boring and unrewarding by comparison

I guess we have a great relationship with our sons  as I did with my folks.

Or...peaceful, financially more rewarding, more flexible with immense freedom of action.

Oh - and dogs are more useful! They fetch what you shoot, guard the house, keep you fit and cost a lot less to run. And they do as they are told...!

I guess so. My brothers all live on different continents from each other and from our parents!!

Probably leaving home at 7 and a half for boarding school 36 weeks a year develops a different sort of character and relationship than staying at home.
