I currently have a iphone 3GS. The lens is slightly scratched and my upgrade plans mean I'm supposed to wait another 8 months before paying for a phone.
I have done the impossible and convinced my wife to use a smartphone - my old iPhone 3GS running iOS4. Haven't moved her to using data yet, but baby steps.... :)
She might be more amenable to taking the next step and trade up to an Android if she had a physical keyboard, such as included with the Milestone (and she's already on XT)...
I have an old i-mate jasjam thats runs out of life after 8 hours, Be a cool way to update to an android phone. I would happily move to XT given my wifes good experiences with her ipad on XT network.

I have an i-mate JASJAM, a.k.a. the HTC Tytn. It runs WM5 and recently it's started coming up with a WSOD when I try to take it out of standby mode...
I think it's due to a hardware fault as bashing it around in my hand seems to fix it (although more recently it takes over a minute of hitting in various directions to do so).
I'm planning on disassembling it sometime soon to see if it's anything obvious like the cable between the front and back units... when I have a spare couple of hours and don't just want to sit down and watch something. Hope I don't completely poke it! Otherwise I might need the Milestone!
I see it has GPS location, I'd love this so when I go fishing on my ski I can plot my best fishing spots and use it as emergency comms if needed. Currently have a Samsung i325 Ace - that's great too.
I recently got a HTC Desire, upgrading from a Windows Mobile imate. It is magic. Sooooo much better.
My wife who is an absolute technophobe (doesn't do computers at all), just loves using it. I would love to give her this phone so she could get into the now. This would bring her online, making her better ready to educate our children.
