MaxineN:

I'm at week 5 now waiting for something I purchased (Fifine USB K669 Microphone) and I've had to chase up the seller almost every week to update the tracking. I've only just heard today that it's in Auckland Airport. I'm not entirely impressed.

Pretty hard to blame the seller when the global postal system is still in a degree of meltdown. Mail is even taking up to 3+ weeks to get between NZ and Australia right now.

5+ weeks isn't out of the ordinary for some of the cheap/free shipping options even without a global pandemic. If delivery speed is important then opt for something like DHL / FedEx rather than super low cost subsidised postage.

Fair point to make. Except the screenshots they've sent to me tells a much different story.

I'm probably impatient and I should probably learn that patience is a virtue. Will be honest this is the first time I've spent over $20 on Aliexpress and it has me nervous.

FedEx out of HK isn't much better at the moment, I had a delivery scheduled for last Tuesday and it's still sitting in the HK facility.

I've heard plenty of bad stories about FedEx out of Hong Kong and Shenzhen over the past few years. The only delay I've had with DHL consignments out of Hong Kong this year was in May when shipping prices were still around 3x normal and airfreight capacity meant goods spent 10 days waiting there. Recent orders have all been no more than 5-6 days from pickup to delivery in NZ.

I have had good delivery times recently - with delivery time frames similar to pre-covid @ 2 (rare) - 4 (common) weeks depending on the vendor.

I havent bought anything for a month now because of the new consoles taking all discresionary spending for a while, but am still waiting on many things. Looks like my wifi lightbulbs are finally at the PO Box but I am sick at the moment so not leaving the house. Very frustrating.

These three are definitely not delivering to NZ: SunYou, Cainiao super economy global and Cainiao super economy for special goods. (this is number one bullsh.. 😄 )

I've had several orders from SunYou arrive, and Cainiao, not sure which subset, were OK as well. So far only one shipment hasn't arrived, and that was around the dollar mark including shipping so I'm not fussed.

Really? When did you receive it? How long did it take? Was it SunYou economic airmail? I wonder if my parcel was delivered and stolen from mailbox(which happened twice in the past)
I gave up on this one SY14036261765

Last year I remember free shipping were all same - 4 weeks, registered 2 weeks. This year SunYou have delivered only item I have purchased last December.

Here's one that arrived quite quickly:

https://t.17track.net/en#nums=SYRM107683417&fc=190072

Seven days from China -> NZ, two weeks from the airport to here. Others are too old to still have tracking info.

SYRM is SunYou Registered Mail. Its registered and tracking in NZ same as China post registered air mail or epacket

Ah, I was wondering what the "RM" addition to the usual tracking was. The no-show was presumably a non-RM SY, but the tracking info has expired so I can't check.

About the tracking sites

17track on the right is fast and support nearly every international and local carriers.

The downside is it sometimes can't pick the correct carrier automatically.

I also use track24.  It is slower and sometimes messes up the times, but it shows the source of data, i.e. which carrier provides the data.

For example, in a UBI shipment, the pick-up from the seller is done by 4PX, then goes to UBI for international transfer, finally NZPost does the local delivery

track24 tells the names of carriers when they can get data from them.

What I usually do is to get the carrier from track24 and do the tracking on 17track.

Also, remember to check NZPost as well when other tracking sites said the parcel has landed at New Zealand.

Data from local courier is fastest and most accurate.

To which when 17track reported it in NZ

NZPost tracking also started to work too. I await my package on probably Tuesday or Wednesday. End of the week if I'm unlucky. It's stuck in Auckland going to a local depot.
