UFO report: U.S. unable to explain more than 140 unidentified flying objects, finds no evidence of alien life - The Washington Post

The report is out now.

The U.S. government was unable to determine whether more than 140 unidentified flying objects, many of them reported by Navy aviators, were atmospheric events playing tricks on sensors or crafts piloted by foreign adversaries, or whether the objects were extraterrestrial in origin, according to a long-anticipated report released Friday by the nation’s top intelligence official.

The report finds no evidence that the objects, characterized as unidentified aerial phenomena, or UAPs, were the handiwork of alien beings. But in almost all of the 144 cases that a team of government experts examined, a lack of data stymied their efforts to say definitively what they were.

The largely inconclusive results of the report, which was required by Congress, are sure to fuel Americans’ long-running interest in unexplained sightings, which have received unprecedented levels of attention in recent years from government officials and lawmakers.

If there actually is a huge government conspiracy to keep the truth from people, this is exactly what you would expect them to do. It is just the next level of the weather balloon story. Pretend to be candid and then candidly state that there's nothing to see here, folks.

"There's no aliens, but we don't know what these are" = "That's what you'd expect them to say, what are they hiding?".

"There's no aliens, and these are weather balloons" = "That's what you'd expect them to say, what are they hiding?".

"There's absolutely aliens, and these are their spacecraft" = "That's what you'd expect them to say, what are they hiding?".

Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

if there are aliens the govt wouldn't be sending probes to mars, they'd be shipping criminals to alpha centauri.

when there's a conspiracy there is a greater benefit to be had by hiding something, and there is mysterious behaviour to deny something rather obvious.

there is no govt behaviour remotely suggestive of conspiracy.

if they know there are aliens any one of the past presidents or their wives or their high ranking officials would not have been able to keep their mouth shut and we would know already. if nobody could resist temptation then there is one person who can prove there are no aliens - because if they have found them donald trump would have told the whole world on twitter.

If there actually were aliens, do you think anyone in the military would have told Trump?

yes.

POTUS has a lot of power including being briefed on all govt secrets on the first day of office.

You are taking this seriously. I am not. That is how my first comment was intended. I hope aliens exist and I remain open to the possibility, but so far I haven't seen anything that proves it to me. It would be satisfying to think that the authorities are hiding something, especially after so many years of them insisting they are not.

But that one thought shining UV lights up your jacksie cured covid and that Ted Cruz's dad helped assassinate Kennedy.

If he came out with "the truth about aliens" who in their right mind would believe him?  He's possibly the safest president the US has ever had when it comes to keeping state secrets in the realm of conspiracy theory.

Well we showed them at the battle of Los Angeles !

Then there was the usual cover up :-)
""
When documenting the incident in 1949, the United States Coast Artillery Association identified a meteorological balloon sent aloft at 1:00 am as having "started all the shooting" and concluded that "once the firing started, imagination created all kinds of targets in the sky and everyone joined in".[5]

Its not like if you have conquered faster than light travel, the energy sources required to support etc...
Well you would be scared in your hypersonic ticktack by ballistic weapons too.

Once we get a few thousand more satellites up there no one is coming or going anyway.
Surprised Elon's efforts have not sparked their interest.

Aliens Wouldn't Need Warp Drives to Take Over an Entire Galaxy, Simulation Suggests It’s also further evidence that extraterrestrials should've settled the entire Milky Way by now. So where are they?

A new computer simulation shows that a technologically advanced civilization, even when using slow ships, can still colonize an entire galaxy in a modest amount of time. The finding presents a possible model for interstellar migration and a sharpened sense of where we might find alien intelligence.

Yeah, that's assuming that an alien race gives two sh*ts about us - we're not that technologically advanced, we fight one another over stuid things and we don't even have colonies on other planets.

But I tend to agree, that if we assume aliens are like us, we are screwed if they get our maps to Earth...

Not only that but there are no resources on Earth that can't be found anywhere else in the galaxy. I suspect asteroids would be of more interest to them than our little planet. :)
