Given the number of promotional emails from them recently, sales must be seriously down!

I have tried another using AliExpress Standard Shipping.

UBI show: (Via Trackingmore)

2020-11-06 10:48:00 DEPARTED FROM ORIGIN PORT,SHENZHEN

Canaio show:

Airline departed from original country 2020-11-02 11:18:39

So it left twice four days apart!

Don't know where the next stop is, no updates yet!

Parcels are handled by different carriers and they have different interpretation of shipment status.

Say, a parcel that is picked up by 4PX locally and UBI does the international shipment,

4PX can report 'handed over to airline' when they are no longer tracking the parcel, and on other sites 'handed over to airline' could be translated as 'departed from origin country'.

And then UBI, who does the international shipment, will report 'departed from origin country'.  But this never means an actual departure, nor means they have secured a spot on upcoming scheduled flights.

'Departed from origin country' only means they have queued your parcel for shipment, or probably queued for custom pre-approval.

This practice is very common.  Had a parcel via SG Post months ago, which it must have used direct flight between Singapore and Auckland.

International Arrival at Auckland was 40 days after SGPost has reported flight departure.

When national postal organization also 'fake' tracking information, you can guess what private carriers like UBI will do.

Same here:

UBI Logistics

Departed from origin port
SHENZHEN

I got alerted on 2nd of Nov. Not sure how it works.

I think https://postal.ninja/ is the best, it show tracking info from different shipping companies.

larknz: I have had stuff with last mile carrier since end of July. I won't be buying anything from Aliexpress until shipping is sorted

If its Sunyou or Cainiao Super Economy then forget about it. SunYou is not delivering to NZ and Cainiao is using Sunyou to send items internationally.

Use China post and Yanwen, these are reliable

With a lot of sellers you don't get a choice of carrier

If you wish to receive it half a year later, so that you get the refund back while still waiting for it.

Off-topic: My purchase on Amazon on 9 November has cleared the custom today.

While my purchase on AliExpress has no update since 13 October.

I thought there would be a race last week

Standard/Free AliExpress shipping seems to be back to the usual 4-8 weeks AFAICT. Last week I received an item purchased early October. Another item bought about then is with the last-mile courier.

I also had a package I wanted urgently, so paid through the nose for DHL shipping. Tuesday afternoon it was shipped, Friday morning it was in PN. Then sat around the PN office all of Friday and the weekend, delivered Monday. So it took longer to get 40km from PN to my home than it did from China to NZ. :(

@sbiddle mentioned to some of us recently how shipping prices and times have gone up for items coming from China.

Yes even DHL is a nightmare at present. Have 3 packages that cost US$800 shipping ex Shenzhen (around 3x normal pricing after recent price increases again) and despite shipping last Fri are still stuck in HKG saying they're delayed. Currently due for delivery here next Tuesday.

The issues with global airfreight capacity to some countries are just getting worse.

Received two parcels today and have another one with NZ Post ready to send. So maybe the blockages have ended.

Got my latest Book Depository order today which took just over two weeks, pretty good for mail coming from a country where they warn you in advance that shipping will have unpredictable delays so don't expect it in a hurry.
