"Case officers were first picking up a citizenship application five months after it was submitted, compared to a fortnight two years ago."

Surely there's something else up there bigger than Covid

I'd think it'll be a number of factors, like more applications, less staff, COVID delays, due to losing productive time in the first lockdown and having a backlog etc.

The bit that concerns me is 'So far this year, 26,000 people have applied for citizenship, and 11,700 were approved'. If true, where are the 2020 applications! Putting my hand up, Nov 30th applied online. Nothing as yet.

More concerning is the fact that DIA straight up lied about the reson for the delays.

They said one of the reasons for the slow processing was that they had a "huge increase in the number of applications". This is absolutely false given the numbers have actually gone down since 2019.

Hi ,

They are lying about get more applications , number of application is similar every year about 30 thousands

but the number of application proceed per month is much less than 2019 and even 2020 , there was no COVID between Jan to mid of August this year

Just received this email from DIA.

**************************

Thank you for your email.

The current timeframe for applicants to be advised of an outcome is 9-14 months (from the date we received the application)

While we are unable to comment on other applications, in general we will usually only consider prioritised/expedited processing in a situation where an applicant needs to travel overseas due to a bereavement or serious illness in the family (and is unable to do so on their current passport)

All requests for urgent processing are assessed on a case-by-case basis, and evidence of exceptional circumstances will need to be provided.

At present, our case officers are assessing applications received in late October/early November 2020.

If any further information is required we will contact you once your application has been allocated and checks are complete.

Otherwise we will contact you only once the final outcome is known.

Elosany and Theanchor were banned. Don't believe what they posted. Other people have been banned in this thread too - don't believe them either.

Is this for real? Apparently you’ve been banned before stated by Uber geeks.

There must be a good reason why some people decided to join Geekzone just to post in this thread - and some decided that would be good to create two or more accounts for this. I have my suspicions but will keep those private.

Am I missing something? Are the posts regarding their timeframes to citizenship false?
What would anyone achieve by suggesting their application is approved before others?
