HI!  My current phone is a nokia 6275i - on the cdma network.  My contract runs out in 2 weeks.  I have become absolutely obsessed about these android phones since finding out about what they can do. I have looked on trade me and various websites, and of course geekzone.  I have motorolled into the telecom shop and caressed the htc desire - phone  of the man in the Digi Import shop..... Ihave searched through many of the android apps.  Some of these would be fantastic for my work!  However, I have 3 children and 2 need orthodontic treatment   you know, it's about priorities in the end.....The photo is of my sister in law informing me of the advantages of smart phones.  (my mum in her 70s has an Iphone!)

I've got a turn of the century Nokia 3315, might as well see what's happened in the last decade.

Well I did try and post a photo of my sister in law and me, did not seem to work - will try again.  Obviously I need to spend more time on my computer....

My Dad keeps going on about Android Phones, and I want one too. If I win this phone will be joint ownership between me and my dad.

I was using my i-Mate Jasjam until I lost it 3 months ago in Carterton.
Then I had bought a temporary phone from Wellington. It is Nokia 6610
It is just a basic phone so no browsing Internet or fast texting.

Now I got my old Jasjam back as someone found it on the roadside. Must have dropped from my pocket as I was cycling with my recumbent trike. Hard to get rid of that brick!

If I get this I will give my old Jasjam away to somebody needy. It is OK when used indoors with a charger plugged in all the time.

And as I need a Telecom phone as I bought a T-Stick for my Internet browsing. To recharge my prepay Telecom account I need to put it in a Telecom phone to make a call to recharge number.

My gadgets:
NEC Versa S3200 Laptop running Linux Mint 9 and Win XP

3x I-mate Jasjam, one running WM6.1 and others WM5.1, all working with VF and Telecom XT
Canon Powershot SX120 Digital camera
Various old phones like Nokia 6310, Nokia 6610 and ancient Nokia 1610, all with carkits.
Greenspeed Gto recumbent trike with Rohloff 14 speed Speedhub, altogether 42 speed.
No TV, no microwave and no washing machine. ( Not enough space in my van for those) I live a mobile lifestyle, call me nomad if you wish but gypsy I am not.
Have started my epic journey from Bluff to Cape Reinga on my recumbent trike supported with my van so I can carry all my gadgets with me and sleep in a comfy bed.

eljefe: I am very keen on an android phone, thinking about the optimus 540, not sure of pros and cons between 1.6 and 2.1 tho.

A picture of what it has to replace below, and a related story.

At least you are running up to date OS in your computer. I am using Linux Mint too ;)

I currently have a sony erricsson k630i, minus battery cover which is somewhere in the car I think. Or maybe the house. Or maybe on the 839 bus from Takapuna.
Works well tho, just installed opera mini for a better mobile browsing experience but that's as smart as this old phone will ever get.

I have an HTC Desire. This would be the wife's phone - we could see which one loads Geekzone the quickest ;-)

Hi - I'd love to win this for my wife. She currently has a CDMA Samsung phone.... the same model as our 16 yr old son. It'd be pretty cool for my wife to have a smart phone that she can do all those flash things that I know the Android OS allows on this device. Thanks for the chance to win GZ!

I have a handme down clamphone Nokia so old there are no model descriptions. It can make calls. However, for google goggles, the Internet, Layared Augmented Reality, and other goodies a smartphone would be so much handier.

Well I'm currently running a new (2 month old) iPhone 3GS. I'm pretty happy with the phone - certainly a step up from my last phone (Nokia 6121) which my son now has (he gets my handme downs).

However I'm intrigued with the Android OS and we've been talking at school about possibly purchasing some Android Handhelds (when they arrive) instead of iPads for use in the classroom so I'd actually use the Android phone in my classroom.

My students are exposed to a number of OS - Windows XP, OSX, Ubuntu, (on the computers) and iOS4 on the iTouch and iPhone. Android would be good to add into the mix. (I am ever hopeful!)

Now that my wife has upgraded to a smartphone, my jealous bone has reared its ugly head!!  However feeding the 4 kids is apparently more important than having the latest technology - Who knew!!??!

Sadly I've been resigned to using an old dilapidated N8. Tough life I know.

But the real reason for entering this is my best mate is using a poor old Nokia 2280. As a recent IS grad this is an absolute disgrace. To be honest I'm almost embarrassed for him. He really needs this.

I am a struggling builder who is finding it harder to keep up with my bookwork due to most correspondence being electronic these days. I have lately been looking for a new fangled phone so i can respond quickly from wherever i may be during the day. Winning this would make my decision easy and my accountant happy.
Thanks.
