Umm - why don't they use EFT pos cards?

I dont like using my ATM card with eftpos because too many places have the pinpad stuck on a stand right up at eyelevel so everyone can see exactly what you are entering into it. So if they then steal my card they have instant access to all my money in all my accounts at an ATM.

I complained to ASB about this how the card could access accounts that were not tied to it, but they think it is a feature not a security issue.

In anycase, visa means no pin for small purchases which is most of the food and supermarket ones, so no risk of exposing my pin to everyone in the queue behind me.

Has anyone had semble do a weird part payment thing? I was at the warehouse and tapped the phone for a $60purchase and it only put $33 thru. Was slightly over the limit on the card but it seemed to mess up the whole process of selling things because they gave me a receipt and I walked off and someone had to come after me since it was only partial. So very embarrassing.

Semble plays no part in the transaction, an EMV applet on the SIM from the bank makes it behave exactly the same way as a card. The partial failure scenarios with a terminal are the same as you would get with a Paypass/Paywave contactless card.

What are the best steps to troubleshoot Semble? Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 with ASB visa card added and activated on 2d Semble sim. Selected 'Pay' and presented at New World paywave terminal, but got 'cannot read card' after a couple of beeps.

Is it just a matter of trying at other terminals?

Positioning the device has a big impact. Do you know where the antenna is on this device?

Also there was a case I remember that someone couldn't get their (old) Samsung NFC to work with Snapper (the app, not Semble). It just happened that person had replaced the battery with a cheap aftermarket one and that specific Samsung model had the antenna on the back of the battery - which the replacement didn't have,

Just received:

ASB Virtual launches today, turning ASB customers’ compatible Android phones into their ASB Visa credit or debit card.

ASB Virtual is available to ASB Visa credit and debit card customers who have the latest version of the ASB Mobile banking app on their Android phone.

ASB general manager payments Matt Bartlett is delighted to offer customers another seamless way to pay.

“ASB Virtual is, essentially, a digital wallet providing our customers the convenience of paying via their phone. Mobile phones have almost become like an extension of our arm – we talk with it, text with it, tweet, play and ‘like’ with it, so now we’re thrilled our customers can conveniently pay with their phone, too,” Mr Bartlett says.

Once added to the ASB Mobile app, ASB Virtual is ready to use. Customers can add ASB Virtual to any number of ASB Visa credit and debit credit cards available in the ASB Card Control app.

Semble is dead now.

Semble and its key stakeholders have recently undertaken a review of Semble mobile payment services and have agreed that Semble will discontinue its current payments offering, which will also affect Snapper services.

This means from today Semble users will no longer be able to add new cards into their Semble wallet. Your card provider (ASB, BNZ or Snapper) will be in contact with you directly with more information about this.

If you already have cards loaded in your Semble wallet they will continue to work as they do today unless you're advised otherwise by your card provider.

We realise you may have a number of questions about these changes with Semble so we've put up some FAQs on our site: www.semble.co.nz/faqs/.

How is semble doing 2016 - dead...

I never got it to work.

ASB has introduced their own card system, now whenever I try and use it I get too many cards errors and on none of these systems is the ability to remove cards.

Thought writing was on the wall when ASB introduced their own payment system; and the fact that Semble has never really progressed beyond where it started.

BNZ is also working on it's own system. Not a surprising outcome really.

I've been waiting months for the teams to figure out how to remove a MasterCard from my line-up that was discontinued last year. No one seems to be able to figure out how to remove it. It's been escalated, but still no joy.

The reason I like Semble is that I can have my phone "off" and it still works as a VISA and as a Snapper card with zero interaction. Am I able to replicate this functionality using the standalone apps?

Sad to see Semble disassemble. I used it for Snapper and BNZ credit card payments. At age 62 I looked pretty cool paying this way - quite the Geek. People would look at you strangely when you held your phone up to the Snapper reader in the bus and at the Supermarket it would also cause surprise that you could pay with it. Oh well, back to the old Snapper card that I was about to throw out.

You can still use the phone until cards expire. You can't add new cards though.

Your snapper card on your SIM should continue to work although the Semble app may stop supporting it. Snapper will still be supported on 2degrees just as it was before Semble.
