Beccara: A while back I blew 394 at a checkpoint which was at the time over the youth limit but under adult limit. Was 19 at the time so got stung for it, 3 months and $350 fine IIRC. I remember at the time being a bit miffed since I was 6'3 and good 80kg

As others have said it comes down to the Judge, Up north there is a Judge who's kid got killed by a drunk driver a while ago and has a nasty habbit of giving everyone the max times he can
Hmmm, that pisses me off how a 19 year old adult is classed as a youth for drinking and driving. As far as I'm concerned, once you turn 18 you are an adult. If not change all the laws to match. Voting, drinking, going to war, you get the point

Are you serious?  How is dishing out the max penalty to someone who broke the law and put the lives of others at risk a nasty habit.  The nasty habit is people like you who drive over the limit and then are miffed when they are caught.  Perhaps if more judges took his or her approach you and others might think twice before drinking and driving.
