DjShadow: I"m sure I read/saw somewhere that The Doctor can only regenerate 13 or so times, getting pretty close to that

This was supposedly a limit imposed by the council, who no longer exist, so they could probably quite happily keep going indefinitely.

I'm sure they'd come up with a more elegant solution if need be though, ala The Masters "reset".

You mean The Valeyard. I'm sure someone will find a way to get around that if/when required. :-)

Simply make it all relative.
In this paradigm each Dr could regenerate 13 times.
But in your's... Who knows what's really possible.

My hunch is that he ended up with River's remaining regenerations when she saved him.

Except she wasn't really a Time Lord, only exposed to the vortex. But that could still work.

Or via the excess energy that Eccleston absorbed from the vortex via Rose. Moffat is a clever chap, he'll think of something :)

Still annoyed about the silly lightning bolts in the time vortex in the current intro ruining the music.

Looking forward to them possibly exploring some more of the Doctors background judging by the last couple of eps of the last season.

True, but Timelords only became Timelords because of exposure of the vortex too ;)
