One other thing to note - if your car was sitting for some time before it sold, the alarm would have slowly drained the battery, and as stevenz mentioned, lead-acid batteries don't like to be fully flat for too long.
joker97: I just got a car delivered - journey was about 350km and took around 36 hrs by company.
When I picked up the car it had a flat battery and I noticed the car door sensor is active (all doors are shut but the red light was on). No stereo was on, no lights inc boot light was on.
Could this be the cause or do you think someone left the lights/radio on during transit?
The inside light will probably draw just under an Amp. That would be enough to drain a so so battery in that time. The light could just have been too dim to see in day light. One of the doors could have been not quite closed or the switch isn't working properly. Open 1 door at a time and push the door switch in too see which door is the problem.
I once had a similar issue and found that something had bent the lever trigger in the boot which thus kept the boot light on continuously. The Autoelectrician had quoted hundreds of dollars to fix but a hammer and 1 minute and the lever was rebent and the problem solved.
