Nah, I wouldn't have minded, but I don't have any time off work presently.

I did go to the Two Towers premiere in Wellington back in 2002 when I was much more of a LotR geek than I am now.

I've got a lot of respect for Peter Jackson, but I still think it's grossly overhyped, and a major nuisance getting into and out of town with the buses having to divert and fight their way through crowds of idiot pedestrians.

Meh, it's a once a decade thing, I can live with the nuisance.

I only went because I live on Courtenay Place. I can confidently say that I won't bother again. I'm certainly not prepared to sweat it out in the front row for 9 hours or so to catch a glimpse of someone who gets paid a lot of money to do their job.

I spent the afternoon in the pub which wasn't too bad except it afforded no benefit other than a seat to sit on and a waitress providing beverages.

I won tickets to the world premier of the LOTR, walked the red carpet and sat directly behind PJ during the movie. We also went to the after party. I would have VERY much liked to have done the same with the Hobbit part one and made it a matching set!

ScottJPalmer seems to live in the same apartment building as I do, just on the other side... with a much better view it would seem.

It is a non event - the only people are there just for the atmosphere either should be in jobs or have jobs that pay them too much.
