Regarding Platinum and Gold Visa insurance cover, it should be noted that ASB, after many years, changed it's travel insurance underwriter from Southern Cross to Tower Insurance on 1st July 2012. I seem to remember that Southern Cross charged extra for pre-existing conditions, and the charges even applied to trips to Aussie, despite the fact that we have a reciprocal agreement on health care.
