JimmyH:
I particularly hate how the ad seems to be 25% louder than the programme it's inserted in, and that more and more ads seem to be of the "loud and shouty" variety. But since the thread is about specific ads, my three particular hates are:

That's supposedly because the ads audio track is encoded differently to normal TV and therefore sounds louder despite it not actually being louder. Having said that there is a move in NZ to reducing ads volume to balance that out. Perhaps they'll make more money as less people will walk away to the kitchen during add breaks.

Worst add has to be this weeks Briscoes never-to-be-repeated sale, lady even has a lisp.

Also possible due to most adds being broadcast in mono.

Is it Harvey Norman with those ads where they speak so fast you have to really concentrate to understand their babble?

Any ads like that are an instant turn-off for me. Yell

I hate that ad on the radio about "Nog" whatever that means. Apparently it's some kind of yogurt? "Everyone knows a band that can make you dance, everyone gets a text that can make you laugh....blah blah blah"

Its really annoying. Especially when the ad first started. They went through this whole theme song and didn't even explain what the product was about!

Maybe it's one of them 'teaser' ads; designed to get you curious about what the product is? Then all will be revealed in a later ad.

scuwp: TiVo = no adverts :-)
BTW, does anyone know if Harvey Norman are having a sale this weekend?  LOL

I am sure Briscoes or Rebel sport are. If not this week, next week, as they seem to go in a cycle :)

Those Bond and Bond ones that shout at you are pretty bad too. With tivo though I don't usually see them/

The Chanui Tea ad, that just annoys me, along with any ad selling expensive knife sharpeners, or vacuum cleaners that never run out of suction.

Oh god not that vacuum ad... "plonk plonk plonk plonk"  "wow, SIXTEEN balls!"

"The <forgotten what it's called, suck it advertisement!> has got to be THE best no-loss-of-suction vacuum available"

Hate hate hate.

Haahaha, the protein powder guy - is that the one where it looks like they've just got together one morning at the gym and decided to make an ad (probably filmed it on their phone)? Bad bad ad. and I can usually remember what the bad ads are trying to sell. In this case I cant.

Asmodeus: ...Most ads are annoying tbh, seems to be a lack of clever ads and a majority of morons bellowing as much crap in 30 seconds as they can...

That's where you are wrong my friend.  All of the annoying ads are very clever.  They are purposely annoying so you remember the product and/or company they are promoting.  Notice how you managed to rattle off the name of the companies of each of the ads you found annoying?  You went even further to post their names on the internet in this forum. Success in the eyes of an advertising company! :-)

I remember seeing something on Fair Go's Best and Worst ads a number of years ago where they did a survey on the best and worst.  Most people could name the company/product the worst ads were promoting, but surprisingly few could name those that the best ads were about.

Satch is onto it.

The worst practice in advertising is the 'me too' tagging at the end.
For instance, a typical promo will play for a new BluRay release will play, then at the end they'll say "available at Marbecks", using a completely different voice over guy / gal.
