paulmilbank: Doesn't everyone need one of these for their evil villain plans. If someone pisses you off, just send it off on a low arc under their house. Neighbours blocking your view... not any more, just sink em. The possibilities are endless as long as you are planning to make things disappear into the ground.

and the best bit is that in NZ they only own the top 30cm of their land, so you don't even have to tresspass :)

For 20% of the price. Good gig if you can get it, sell the same machine hundreds of times for 80% of the full price each time.

These tunnel boring machines are custom-designed for each job they do, based on factors like the geology they expect to encounter. It would not be of much use for any other NZ project for that reason.

I gotta hand it to the Germans; they're really clever engineers.
