PDAMan: I don't remember the last time I used Yellow online. As to the books, occasionally I need a doorstop or something to stand on.

They're excellent for propping up monitors at the correct ergonomic height!

Being in Otago, ours are rather small compared to say Auckland ..
Need a few more with the size 4 font they use now to reduce the number of pages in the book

I'm sorry but any site that presents overwhelming Cadbury purple as the predominant colour does not deserve the love.

The last time I used the yellowpages book --- maybe 6 years ago?

The last time I used their website -- maybe 1 year ago and it didn't really return the results I wante.

Google is capable of returning a phone number of any business i've needed to contact.

DIdn't the canadian teachers union buy yellowpages for hundreds of millions?

I reckon the net worth is probably  close to 0 now.

Sadly never a truer use of them found. Problem is they are now thinner than than in the past so have to use two past editions to get the same height.

And I posted this on Twitter and got abused by their head of development:

So, was it four hours only or really a couple of days?

Sure. Even so. He got all offended because someone dared to criticise the company he works for. Too bad.

"Remembering bigger than reality" is sarcastic. I then pointed out that there were signals pointing to something happening and he went on with more sarcasm.

Blocked, done and dusted. Another company in the crap list anyway.

I do feel sorry for older people who don't use computers and rely on the phone books to find listings (since the font size is so tiny now). My late grandparents never had a computer in their lives.

freitasm: Working fine for me on TelstraClear. Are you going to http://www.whitepages.co.nz or using a bookmark?

http://whitepages.co.nz  and also tried it from the yellow site.

Its fixed itself now but was out for two days. Had the same experienceon mobile (2degrees) as well as via snab backboned internet.

I did try it twice on two different days but still - a four hour outage on one day (presumeably not for maintenance as who maintains a larger website in the middle of the day) means that there are probably biggger issues and I copped them on two days.

Techies hey? Only people worse as sys admins who are getting their donkey chewed out for having a major part of the web business down. hehehehehe

Sure. But in mine I am talking about a company and the reply is directed at a person. In my view big difference. I try never to attack a person. But obviously some peoples take things at different levels when they drink the kool-aid.
