I make a beeline to a sales rep who I know from past experience is ultra competitive to make a sale with a printout from PriceSpy with lower prices from other places. And there are always lower prices to be found elsewhere on PriceSpy hehehe

Hmmm, I never thought of that. Mostly when i look at Pricespy I'm thinking, "ugh, I don't want to drive all the way into the city just for that, with all the associated parking problems etc".

warehouse stationary is good for that too since they have many ext hdds which is weak selection at harvey norman.

Hmmm, I never thought of that. Mostly when i look at Pricespy I'm thinking, "ugh, I don't want to drive all the way into the city just for that, with all the associated parking problems etc".

Printout? I just scan the barcode of the item and pricespy (or is it price me, i forget which) tells me all the prices for that item on the screen of my phone, which I then show to the sales person. :p

I bought a Panny BR/HDD Recorder recently. $944. NL had them at $849 but no stock for 3 weeks. Called HN told them, they asked if its on the website, I said no. They price matched to $849 on phone call. Told them I will be in after work, they just took phone number and name, and all done. Must be competitive out there

We know that. But the village idiot has money and they know he will respond to this kind of hype and spend all his hard earned cash on unnecessary goods.

Sales are good when they are good. Usual price of a USB cable in Bond+Bond was something stupid like $27.00 which I got for about $5.00 in their closing down sale as they had lots to burn. As people have mentioned, things on sale are usually just items sold at a reasonable price, rather than the stupidly inflated price they usually have on the sticker.

I guess we will have to wait and see if it is worth stepping in their store this time around.

The best thing I have got from harvey norman has to have been the $8 philips headphones. And the sodastream machine. Both were xmas related sales not their "OMG ITS COMING MASSIVE SALE EVENT" carry on.

Also, wouldnt that kill sales during the week since its a sale this weekend so why the hell buy now?

Is this the stupid one where they cover the prices and make you have to work to lift the damn flaps all around the store? Got well sick of that and left last time, what a stupid promotion. The covers were off fairly quickly in Palmerston North apparently, as everyone was telling them how silly it was.

I am usually at sales like that with smart phone in hand on pricespy picking things up, searching and then putting back.

Sometime retailers must get the idea that these BS sales are not working. If its not lower than the lowest on pricespy which will get it delivered _TO MY HOUSE_ without me leaving and having to park etc, then it is not a "deal" its just less of a ripoff.

The best thing about their TV ads, is that they aren't screaming at you. It is just a silent ad. Wish they had those ads every week.

And vice versa with this, when an online deal site shows you a product at $2 less than in a store, but then charges $5.90 for delivery, it's simply a waste of time. The Warehouse red deals are a bit like this often, as anything larger attracts a huge courier delivery fee and they won't let you pick up in person in store.

I would gladly pay $5.90 to not have to drive and park at a mall or similar place, letalone set foot inside a shop.

Picking things up is a waste of time, could easily take 20-30 mins round trip, that alone pays for the courier.

Fully agree, but it depends what it is. Often we are out when the courier arrives and it's a pain in the a$$ if a signature is required. Often I end up driving to the depot itself to guarantee I'll be available as such.

Also, I'm not going to pay $49 extra for a larger warehouse delivery when there is a store literally 2 minutes away down the road.

I try not to buy stuff at Harvey Norman anyway. I bought a Lens Pen the other day from them for $28 and got it home and found the package had already been cut open (the plastic bubble that you see the product through). So I don't know if it had been used or not. Not sure if there is any point in going to them to complain.

Another time I went looking for tripods and asked if I could try a camera on it (the same model as mine) and the guy went and looked in the glass case and said he didn't have one. Later on I walked past the case and saw that they did indeed have one (and it wasn't that big a case).

Just unhelpful.
