tardtasticx: This should help you. Contact details for all public hospitals in the country, organised by DHB.

So you would count North Shore Hospital and Waitakare Hospital, both under the Waitemata DHB.

Auckland City Hospital and Starship Hospital (Paediatric ED, not sure if this counts but its 24/7), both under the Auckland DHB.

And finally Middlemore Hospital in South Auckland under the Counties Manukau DHB.

Hope that helps, those are all the ones listed in auckland and that sounds about right too,

The list Sam gave you is correct. Auckland/Starship (both buildings are in the same physical location - in fact to us Starship is merely a building number at ACH - so you may opt to exclude it as a separate facility), Middlemore, Waitakere and North Shore.

Kyanar: The list Sam gave you is correct. Auckland/Starship (both buildings are in the same physical location - in fact to us Starship is merely a building number at ACH - so you may opt to exclude it as a separate facility), Middlemore, Waitakere and North Shore.

I was thinking that myself for the Starship but like I said I'm not sure, because it even though its on the same campus as ACH, it has its own separate Emergency Department for paediatrics alone.

Take MMH (Middlemore Hospital) for example, it has its own paediatrics department as well, but its a sub-department of the ED as a whole. They work together and are admitted through the same area, just different wings if you like. Paediatrics Emergency is not run by KidzFirst as far as I can tell from working at MMH. But I'm pretty sure at Starship they run their own ED for paeds.

Yup. AED and CED are two completely different departments, funded out of two completely different cost centres even. My main reasoning for saying it should probably be counted as one is that OP indicates that they are doing a study for determining travel time to each hospital, and for any given origin it would take the same time to reach either Starship CED or ACH AED as a destination.

(Source: Currently work within the health system, based at Greenlane - which does not have an emergency department).

Side note, MercyAscot though it is a private hospital also has an ED. Does this count? I'm not sure if St John will route there in the event of an accident short of a Major Incident.

No. They only provide basic accident and emergency services, and in an actual emergency would simply stabilise and transfer to a hospital.
