Klipspringer: Seller is from Manukau city.. so my first instinct would be yip probably a bit dodge.

I would avoid the auction

Please tell me you are kidding with this comment!!!

Yes it was suppose to be a bit tounge-in-cheek

But if the auction was listed in say Oriental Bay Wellignton, I may have swung the other way.

The items, and just how they all displayed give me the impression its a dodgy deal. Not the location. But I think location is important non the less. I would probably avoid most items from Cannons Creek too

I could only find one substantive reason not to buy from this trader. It can be an issue trying to complete a trade when someone is moving overseas.
NO TIME WASTERS PLEASE ONLY SERIOUS BUYERS. WE ARE RE-LOCATING OVERSEAS AND HAVE NO TIME TO RE LIST . THANK YOU

[Edit: Here's the link to the item that mentions this: http://www.trademe.co.nz/electronics-photography/memory-cards/sd-media/16g-and-over/auction-602588343.htm ]

In this case, these may be personal items being cleared before moving. This may explain why the electronics are being bundled and why the listings don't indicate that he is a second-hand dealer.

Otherwise:
  • no bad feedback
  • reasonable response to neutral feedback
  • steady stream of trades indicating no sudden change in behaviour or intermittent trading (eg due to time in custody)
  • allows pickups and there is feedback indicating pickups ie has a physical address
  • accurately describes the items. Many dubious listings are cursory and lacking detail

Wow.

[Edit: Location is relevant but only when you know the actual address to pickup from. The location or 'Suburb' in Trade Me is user selectable. I live in greater Wellington but I can say that I'm in Auckland City. Sometimes there is a valid reason for doing this, for example, because the goods being sold are stored in a different city where they will have to be picked up.]

In practice, I've found that dodgy traders haven't been 'located' in less affluent areas. They've selected locations that are central city or affluent. They don't usually allow pickups either, or if they do, the pick-ups often don't work out.

[Edit: I've collected Trade Me purchases in Cannons Creek and Waitangirua at night. No problems.)

There are some keywords that invite strong opinions. Imho the effect is makes users think twice before going for it. But the point? Don't know what the point was : )

A bit pointless when the auto reply comes after the post which initiates it, don't you think?

Stereo Type? or Racism? No, I shall not bite, I shall not bite.

I'm not a complete idiot, I still have some parts missing.
