SaltyNZ: Don't mistake the Pavolva for a Kiwi desert. We Aussies invented it. Also, Phar Lap was an Australian race horse, and we won the America's Cup long before the Kiwis ever did.

macuser: Kiwi 'she'll be right' ingenuity is basically just a half-arsed job of something that should be done right.

Most Kiwi's don't really like negotiating (or maybe I'm just not subtle enough).

Kiwi's use the same swear words to describe someone good or bad.

Most tradesmen can be convinced to go far below a quote if you do a 'cashie' (aka off the books)

But don't do it as it stuffs the economy.

Kopkiwi: Don't believe what you hear about NZ being this haven of safety and you can go where you want, when you want, by yourself.

Does anyone think any country is a safe haven? NZ has people, so it has crime just like anywhere else.

You've misinterpreted what I have meant. Overseas there is a perception we are this amazingly safe country where you can walk where you want, when you want at any time of the night or morning without issue.

Remember it being talked about at length when that Irish girl was brutally murdered in Taupo a while back.

Where I am from NZ is a safe haven. Its paradise and crime levels here don't come close to South Africa.

South Africa about 54 Murders per day.
NZ, um not even that much in a year.

SA has roughly ten times the population of NZ

Back to topic.

Never bring up the 1995 Rugby world cup to any All black supporters.

As someone Tweeted the other day: Russel Crowe was born in NZ, Russel Crowe is Superman's dad, therefore Superman is eligible to play for NZ.

Safe haven means no random crime/murder / assaults etc. ie, you are completely safe.

NZ might be safer than some countries on a relative basis but no place is crime free.
