semigeek: Uber geek at 1000 posts

Cool Uber Geek sounds cool : ) Im gonna pay a donation sometime so i can get other cool stuff next to my name :D

The subscription is well worth it if you're on the forums all the time (like me), also it's a small donation for the time and effort Mauricio has put into Geekzone. But good job, I think Ultimate Geek comes after 500 posts, and Uber Geek comes after 1000, don't spam your way to this though :)

Ultimate is 250 as it matches the badges.

I liked it that someone was excited enough to post about getting to 100 posts - Master Geek sounds better - so it motivated me to express my great joy by subscribing.

Question, do posts in non-technical areas count towards your post count?

That kinda sucks, you could spend your time posting random stuff in Off Topic and get Ultimate geek status.  Guess you are contributing to the site (ads, subscription) so not that bad

Agreed.

The first things I noticed when I joined Geekzone was that an high level geek appeared to be a monumental idiot. I deduced that the number of posts is unrelated to their quality. It would be good to have a better measure. Perhaps based on 'likes' or 'answers'? But whatever it was someone will always work out how to manipulate the result they want.

A reputation based system could be a nice idea.  Kinda like the Kudos system on the HP site.  Where users can vote your posts up or down. The only issue with that would be the votes would probably need to be moderated by others which will create a large overhead.

Sectioning the posts sounds like the best idea, posts in the off topic/for sale section dont count towards your "Geek Status"

I reckon there should be another rank over 9000.

I think his Telecom counterpart plambretchsen may get up there too, though he probably needs to get a master filter first.
