Dratsab:
Geektastic: 2) I think it's great the the Cake Tin management have made it so expensive that we never get touring bands there now!

Not quite correct. Thank a group of lawyers in Thorndon for that one. Most stadia size bands don't want to spend the money it takes to get to Wellington. An international airport (it's a good thing we don't have one of those!!) is probably the biggest stumbling block.

Maybe. Although the article you linked to does say that the only concert they had was Bon Jovi so clearly the number of concerts has fallen and I have seen other articles in the papers in which music promoters have said Wellington is just too expensive.

However we did have

AC/DC
Elton John
Rolling Stones
Bon Jovi
The Police

and so on, all in short order - and those are just the ones I can remember. Then all of a sudden.....nothing. There must be a reason why that is.

Meanwhile I still have to pay 'Stadium Rates' for the waste of space it has become (as far as I am concerned, since I detest sporting events).
