Carton has arrived at Shipito warehouse in California.

two photos were taken by the company as it gets processed into my mail box.

Box details are as follows:

size-600mm x 460mm x 340mm

Weight- 19.02 kgs

price:

Mailout fee.......................$18.50 ($8.50 for mail box + $10 tax California)
Postage...........................$161.61 ($151.95 + $6.66 bank fee)
Total................................$181.11 USD

I also requested 1 internal photo to be taken as part of the insurance deal.

Amazing how things that are likely to be made in Asia gets shipped half a world away to the States and then back half a world away will still end up cheaper than buying it locally.

Just merely stating the fact before people get started with Service/supporting local businesses and warranty concerns

The really sad thing is that Fiskars are not interested in importing these into NZ.............

Probably not enough grass here for them to warrant it...........

Maybe the Finns don't think we have grass here, or Bruce is an utterly hopeless sales rep with no interest in pushing these and only interested in selling scissors.

But crazy how it comes from just up the road (Asia) and we can't get them here.

Hand mowers are given the term Reel'
They are not as good as the motorised ones, but better than those horrid other' things

And they will cut higher than a motorised Reel which usually sits around the 30mm at best. And I didn't want anything with motors as I can now come home from work and cut my grass at 3am......
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I just looooooooooooooooove my new grass

When you're done, I have 18 acres that needs your attention.......!

No that is the Max'

I could not get that one as I have rock borders around my grass, the front of the machine would have extended out too far. And it is also less manoeuvrable than the smaller Plus'
The Max' would be great for a larger open garden without any obstruction to the front of the wheels.
The Plus' has the same cutting technology but with a smaller footprint.

It has been shipped and is with DHL

Ouch, you only just break the $60 GST barrier. It would be nice if Shipito didn't put the full freight cost on the parcel, save you $100 if the declared shipping cost is under $160US.

For $2USD Shipito took a photo of the contents of the box, which I think is a great idea.

I had an MRI scan this morning for a damaged lower back so that is just another reason why I am moving to a lighter machine with no worries about trying to pull start a mower.
The plus does the same thing as the Max by throwing the clippings forward to be recut and semi mulched into the ground.

Actually Customs will sting you for anything over $60NZD if it is falls in the Duty' codes. Well let's just say they can' do that. Anything under the $60NZD and it's not worth generating the paperwork. But yeah anything over that with traffic codes and you can be charged, that $400 is rubbish. I don't know where people get that idea from.

I guess because a lot of things don't have duty and 15% (GST) of $400 is $60. It's pretty obvious.

To be clear, when the total of duty and GST payable is found to be less than NZ$60, they do not usually collect the revenue. I guess they could, but they don't.

I believe the $400 is the GST threshold.

If Customs are interested then you also get hit with Biosecurity charges as well, and the GST on top of that.
But I've brought in things with no duty, which I was surprised with. I actually dont mind, as I don't have a powered mower. So this will be my main mower.
To get a good' motor mower here, your looking at $800 and up. Especially if you want a Honda engine. Of course there are a lot of very cheap steel bodied machines for a lot less. But I was never going to buy a lawn mower with a petrol engine so I'm just trying to get a good' non-powered mower.
Now there are some American' mowers here for $300 plus, but as far as I can see they are actually not as good as this Fiskars. So it will be very interesting to see how it goes.

My guess is that the rep is instructed to sell solely to retailers? Not to you, a person e-mailing him directly? If his retailers find out he's "going direct" he could lose them, and in doing so, lose almost all his income from that line of mowers?

Or has he done something else bad?
