The advert is good once, not every advert slot inbetween the comedy gala.

The word? Dumb.
The Ad? Dumb.

It would have been clever to have some mention of spark in the ad like 'I'm a bright spark ..."

Unlimited Broadband is not new and Telecom pricing isn't great either.  but once again it shall be proven that he who has the biggest marketing budget gets the biggest share of the market.

Third time lucky!  Or is it their 4th attempt at unlimited? I've lost count.

Buyer beware I guess.

Saw the long version on TV the other night, Wife and Flatmate laughed, said it was a good ad.
Saw the shorter version last night, Wife said ad is already annoying.

I did cringe at the bit with him in the bath (on his own, doing man things, his hand hurts????)

Good point; adverts do tend to get done to death here.

Also I have noted a number of ads that re-appear after a year or two, perhaps with some different music, in the hope that we have all forgotten how bad they were originally!

My conclusion is that they just do not charge enough for the air time to restrict it to people with proper budgets and creative teams.

This is why I don't have a TV plugged into standard broadcasts...

I watched this ad because it was sent to me by a work colleague...I would say that is a cake-able offence having someone watch that.

mattwnz: Are they all telecom staff in the advert?

yea, the guy that sang is plambrechtsen. world famous on geekzone

I think I spotted JohnR too, along with PeterReader :)

Gets the thumbs up from my wife "Cheesy as, but great". She is non technical, so Telecom must be hitting their target market ok.

johnr: Must be working as people are speaking about the ad, Win win for Telecom NZ

They have also invented a new word ' Giganaire '

They've done very well with that.

But the "giga-rich" play on "n*gger rich"... not so sure about it.

Yeah, my daughter walked past while I was grinning like a maniac at the ad and went 'OMG MUM, THEY CAN'T JUST SAY THAT ON TV!' When I explained what she had actually heard was 'Giga-rich', her face did this:

Would never have occurred to me (but then playing that kind of music is a hanging offence in our house!) although the visuals make it pretty obvious I guess.

It just makes me grateful I can fast forward through the ads on the rare occasions I watch something on Freeview.

People actually sit through that banal tripe??

If they didn't then the entire business model of free-to-air television would fall over.
