I would have to read them all! Being an idiot I (or perhaps a normal non techy user), I don't immediately recognise a premium number. Before responding I had read the terms and conditions that applies to unlimited texts on 2degrees, and lo and behold it doesn't define a premium number.

My thought process would be: this number was sent within NZ, i'm replying within NZ - it's a normal text. Or I could go and read all the terms and conditions every time I don't recognise a number ;)

I know i'm being a bit ridiculous, but I still don't think Joe Public is going to immediately know what a premium number is, therefore it would be great to see a disclaimer even if all it said was "this is a premium number"

They all very explicitly say "standard landline and mobile numbers" - I quoted the specific lines (which, by the way, are on the product info pages - you don't even need to read the T&Cs). I think we all know that a 4-digit number is not a standard mobile number, so you're being a bit disingenuous.

felixfurtak: As a test, I did reply to the the text and it did indeed cost me. It was only 20c, rather than 50c but did not come out of my normal text bundl. For me it's the principle - it shouldn't cost me anything to get my parcel. And I'm fairly sure premium rated texts should have a warning with them to say at least how much they cost.

First off we know only person to person SMS come out of our included bundles but yes I have to agree disclaimer 20 cents to reply should be advised but not really premium at 20 cents maybe if it was 50 cents and above

He was replying to the courier "person" :)

My hair dresser send me a reminder text the day before my appointment
It is a premium text message number and costs me 20c to confirm my appointment. Google hangouts (my default SMS client) even tells me it will cost me.
I could ring the store to confirm using my included minutes but it is often pimplier to reply yes to the message and be charged 20c
