You can pay for postage online and print it, and I'm reasonably sure the RD driver will collect it.

Yep. Only problem would be if the parcel is huge or dangerous goods.

I had that argument with a high turnover TradeMe store but they flatly refused to pay return shipping on a DOA product. I gave up in the end on the $40 product and left negative feedback. They blacklisted me.

Yeah at the $40-60 mark there is little you can do other than a chargeback if you were lucky enough to use paynow to pay for it.

Many trademe sellers are idiots. I avoid the place now since they dont seem to do anything to keep the large traders in line other than saying you can leave feedback.

That sounds like poor service, especially as it was DOA, so their fault at the end of the day. One thing is that retailers can get far cheaper courier rates than consumers, so the cost be quite small in the grand scheme of things.
