So I was watching FairGo last week, about Showrooming, and the retailers complaining about customers using the retail shop for size and fitting, and then buying overseas online, and the retailers complaining that overseas purchases don't collect the 15% GST, and therefore local retailers don't have the competitive edge.
Well, it's not the 15%, it's the extraordinary markup some products have.
The other day, there was a 1-day deal ( or similar) for a Kambrook Planetary Mixer, for $159.00. Not a bad price. Checked the normal retail - $399NZ.! FFS !! So less than 1/2 price on special
In Oz, the normal retail is around $150AU, down to $99 on special.
richms: And yet the $2 shop beside dick smith have no problems retailing cables for $2 or $3.90 in the same mall with the same costs?
Ever tried taking something like that back under warranty, at $2 people just write it off even though they are entitled to have it replaced, most don't because its "only a couple of bucks"
