joker97: What's an inverter? Is that a generator?
RunningMan:joker97: What's an inverter? Is that a generator?
The most common domestic ones will take 12v DC in and output 240vac to power appliances, so you can run from a 12v battery.

bazzer: Does anyone know which kind of gas hot water heaters work without electricity? Ours is a Rheem and doesn't seem to. I don't know if it's possible to do it manually, I should check the manual.
I think I heard that some brands don't need electricity to get started?

This is true, ours doesn't which is why we bought it. Um, I can't remember the name brand (one of the main ones) but not all models do in any case.
