One thing I am  not looking forward to when we move to Auckland is neighbours!

Why the hell would you move from Martinborough to Auckland?

We love ours. Thinking about hanging a second set (stereo).

Polyphonic windchimes are far more pleasant to the ear than non-polyphonic. Unfortunately, polyphonic windchimes are not that easy to find. Most of the cheaper windchimes, irrespective of metal or bamboo, are non-polyphonic dischordant mess of clanging n banging.

They aren't annoying when they are yours so ...

...  get a bigger set, initiate a wind chimes arm race, then offer a mutual decommissioning treaty laughing

Reading this has made me want to go out and get a set of chimes for our place.

Hmm. Having lived in and around London and the SE of England for a long time, rest assured Auckland is still a cruisey place in comparison if you pick the right neighbourhood. Unlike London, you don't need $5 million to buy in the right neighbourhood yet, either!

In fact we will likely spend half as much on a house in Auckland as we did in Martinborough.

If your neighbor has metal chimes, why not buy him/her a set of bamboo chimes?
Much quieter and more soothing.
And better than garden gromes.
