surfisup1000: In theory CGA applies but for pragmatic reasons CGA does not apply for goods worth under $50.
surfisup1000:keewee01: And this is where TradeMe as a company fail big time. They need to step up, act responsibly and be more proactive against sellers like this. They can't sit idlely by and keep allowing traders to do this whilst saying "Meh, not us", especially when the trader is listed as 'In Trade' - it just cheapens and makes a mockery of having the 'In Trade' tag.
You're welcome to an opinion but that opinion has no legal backup.
This is an issue between a buyer and seller, not the agent .
Perhaps trademe should be a bit more proactive but how far do they go?

Could you post a reference backing up that statement? I've never heard it before.
saeran: This is one good thing about Ebay.
If you buy stuff, even if it's $1, if it doesn't show up or something's wrong you usually get a refund very quickly (within a couple days).
timmmay: Trademe replied, they said they'd contacted the seller but it was best for me to continue to talk to them and work things out. Not sure I can be bothered.

timmmay: Interested in what other people think ?

I sell lots of stuff for electronic enthusiasts...
If you are buying cheap chinese hings like thermometers, I think you are better to get them off ebay or deal extreme, as the sellers tend to be much better than some in NZ, as if you have a problem they will refund or send you a replacement, as they don't want a chargeback or bad feedback. Some of the cheap trademe sellers are simply reselling things they have purchased overseas from these websites anyway, so their margins are pretty thin, and in a way I feel sorry for them and wonder why some even bother especially with the CGA.

richms: When you buy from the cheapest seller on trademe you get this. The problem with trademe is they make it hard to see feedback on the product vs the seller and to find other sellers that have the same item but better customer service.
I generally try to buy from the 2nd, 3rd or 4th cheapest to avoid the race to the bottom for local sellers of imported tat.

Why would you assume I bought from the cheapest seller?
