Braun and Remmington are good. Phillips are overpriced for a lesser shaver.
I'm currently using an Izumi electric shaver (used to be Seiko) but not sure if they are available in NZ.

I always had Braun shavers but bought a Remington a few years ago when it was on special for $50. Unfortunately the cutter life was only six months and it ended up being cheaper to toss it away than replace the cutter.

I replaced it with a decent quality Braun like what I had used previously. Admittedly the cutters are still expensive but they have decent life and the quality of the shaver makes it worth maintaining.

I have had Braun, Philips and Remington, the Braun and Remington were crap, when I got my first Philips it was like night and day.

You do need to go for the higher end Philips, but I have had 2 in the last 20+ years so they last great, the only reason I changed from my first one is that after 12 years the battery wouldn't hold a charge very well.

I got my second one from Trademe as an unopened unwanted gift. When I compared it to my first one I found that the speed was a lot faster, the battery charge lasted a lot longer and the noise was significantly lower.

My first was a Phillips AT750. It was ok, but I wouldn't go back to it.

I now have a Philips PT920. I use it to shave my face and head daily. It's an excellent shaver.

The trick with Philips is waiting till they're on special, which conveniently apears to be now, you'll find them at 50% off.

I recommend the top of the range - but order it from overseas. Prices in NZ are outrageous and Braun has international warranty so it does not matter where you buy it.

I bought the top of the range one about 18 months ago to replace one which had lasted 8 years before the charging was getting a bit poor. It cost me the equivalent of $300 from Amazon in the UK and at the time was over $800 in NZ!!

Just make sure it is dual 120/240V OR you have a 120V shaver outlet in your bathroom.

I could never get a decent shave with an electric dry shaver, but have never tried an electric wet/dry one.

I use a Gillete Fusion Proglide Power for a manual wet shave. I have a shaving mirror in the shower, I'm already wet and facial hair softened so only takes a couple of minutes - then rinse off is easy because I'm in the shower! Generally shave 3 times a week in current job (Mon, Wed, Fri), had to shave Mon-Fri in last job though.

Never bothered with moisturizers or any of that, I just only ever wash my face with water (no soap).

Edit: I don't think it would add more than 3 minutes to my routine compared to my non-shaving days. Also very seldom cut myself unless the shaving head is getting old, or occasionally the first shave on a new head.

I shave in the shower, have for years. Been a long time since I had any razor rash or cuts. Total time (including washing) 10-12 minutes, depending how cold the world is.

I shaved on the shower for twenty odd years. Stopped recently when the trimmer came into play. Will try the Philips shaver... First one since a failed attempt back in early nineties

I would not recommend this, to anyone, ever.

Still I then compared it to the actual Gillete Fusion blades, which are practically identical, and they are rubbish also, so it may not be such a dodgy China clone, and in fact they just might all be sht.

Safety razor. DE head or similar (any brand is fine really), Feather Razor blades, and Proraso shaving cream with a badger brush. I nearly gave up on using a safety razor the first week I tried it, but glad I stuck with it especially once I found out what a different good blades with a decent shaving soap can make my main mistake was using shaving cream from the supermarket at the start.

Costs a bit to get setup, but when you compare the cost of Mach 3 or Quattro cartridge which are a few dollars each to a safety razor that will cost a few cents if you bulk buy them its worth it to get a better shave at a cheaper price.
