I have 16 cameras through out the business all connected via wired network to a system , upgrading the cameras could be difficult though as I think the cameras that are there are as high a resolution as the system can handle.

Higher def cameras are the answer. And, if their faces are clearly identifiable and the Police won't so anything then consider having them published in the local newspaper with a reward for identifying them, and then take them to small claims for the costs of repairs.

And that's your rates that pay to repair it too - and to think they even do it despite that train stations all have CCTV (Auckland does anyway). At least with bus stops, it's an advertising agency that pays to repair it.

The station in question doesn't, although there are plenty of poles etc that they own where they could mount one inaccessibly - either permanently or temporarily.

Given the cost of repeated repairs I would have thought that they could justify the cost. It wouldn't even have to be networked, just have storage that recorded on a loop and could be reviewed for the last 24/48 hours of data after an attack. That, and prominently offering (say) $1,500 paid for information leading to the conviction of anyone defacing the station should likely be sufficient to deter most of them. I doubt many would trust everyone in their group not to turn them in for $1,500!

New glass going in just have to wait 5 days as its a tinted mirrored glass and has to be shipped down, this time however it going to be safety glass. Glazier has said its 8 times tougher than what was in there. $2100 to have it replaced.

I also think that people who object to fines for traffic offences should be able to opt for a tasering in lieu of the fine. Sometimes violence is the answer!

This was in the Marlborough a couple of days ago. It seems a real pity that the cameras are not good enough for people to recognize the people involved. I know that recording the resulting amount of data is problematic, and that flare from the headlights would make good quality imagery difficult even with top notch kit, but it could sure have been better than this.

It does seem that dash cams are getting ever more common place. When that TransAsia plan crashed just after take off recently, they had footage from three different dash cams. The road did not look busy either, so that's three vehicles out of probably not many at all.

Name and shame.

It's the use of the word "suspected" that worries me. That tactic is probably OK, providing they have evidence that will hold up is they are challenged. However, if they post someones face on facebook because they merely suspect them, and it isn't true (or they can't substantiate the claim) they will potentially be done like a dogs dinner. If someone did that to me for something I hadn't done, then there would be a fairly vigorous defamation action in the courts pretty much immediately.
