Completely impossible to get packages here from many of the currier companies. Especially TNT. Completely useless.

Its so bad I have switched to asking them to hold it at the depot and I go there to collect any packages that are sent with TNT.

From what I gather they now ask for "re-delivery fees", which is a bit of a laugh - given that they are never able to deliver in the first place.

We will get at least 2 courier deliveries and regular pick ups a day at home and seldom have any issues.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

We have a different driver now and he's fantastic , Have told him if no answer and its not sig required to go through gate and drop it off around side of house. Xmas time I gave him his drink of choice for looking after us.

Before him though we had the same things of cards being left (various different firms) when the missus was home all day. What really pisses me off is when they used to drop of a signature required item off and signed for it themselves.

They don't "get Paid" as such.
They all work as self employed contractors.
They "pay" is when it is delivered.

It all depends on individual driver - having used all the companies, in various parts of the country I can vouch for that.

2 we get here are long term guys.....they start super early and finish late, that's why they go like hell.....
They are required to ditch their vans at 280,000km, which is ridiculous for diesel these days...hell, even not these days. Husbands diesel ute lasted till 650,000.

They buy the van. The buy everything but are required to wear the uniform and represent the company. No holidays, Anniversary day for them just meant they didn't get any money that day.

we have a Fastway driver thats fantastic even if he does come early. One day he arrived 6.45am. He knocks and leaves on doorstep. If its signature required he doesnt come until 7.30 to 8am.

Suppose that you have 100 parcels to deliver to residential addresses and that it takes two minutes to write a card and leave it in the letterbox and one minute to knock on the door and wait for an answer.

Seventy percent of residences will not answer the door when you knock in the daytime.

If the driver always knocks then he will spend 100 * 1 minutes at the door and 70 * 2 minutes writing up the cards for the houses where nobody is home.

If the driver just writes out a card for all residential addresses and never knocks on the door then that will take 100 * 2 minutes which is a saving of forty minutes.
