It seems that preorders open on the 23rd; it doesn't let me order any yet. The form on the site is to get a reminder emailed to you on that day.

Interesting. When the new coins were announced yesterday I went on to the site and placed an order straight away. It took all my payment details and advised me that they would ship on March 23 for delivery March 24.

Maybe that was a slip-up and they made the page live earlier than intended.

Meanwhile, the NZ Post site says that "The coin will be available exclusively through PostShops and Kiwibank branches". But I thought it was going into circulation as well... unless you're "supposed" to buy them from NZ Post and then spend them, or something...

Ah! That one works, thanks :)

... But I don't really feel like paying $5 on top for courier so I'll just wait it out.

I thought they would release them via the banks as they do new coins at the moment. I would be surprised if they were only available through NZ Post/Kiwi Bank... but then as a commemorative coin, maybe that is what the deal is. Might have to see if I can order me some. I'm pretty sure I got a few dollars sitting in my old Philatelic Bureau account.

Pre-ordered, one roll of 20 coins. Don't mind the $5 courier, I probably wont break the roll (but then, if I get hungry...)

It's a nice coin although I don't share the cultural obsession with the event. I may get a mint one for collectibility - not that I expect it to be worth huge amounts.

The UK issued a black 50 pence piece a while ago (after I had left) and I still mean to track one of those down.

Have pre-ordered a couple of rolls and a couple of the collectible packs (not both for me)

With 1,000,000 if them being minted I can't imagine these will ever be worth more than face value.

I think that's the intention. Like the millennium ten dollar notes. I think there were one and a half million printed.

I've never seen a Millenium $10 note (I think anyway), so they may now be worth a bit.

Coins last  a lot longer than notes, so I agree, these 50c coins are never going to worth a lot more than 50c.

I used to have one of those $10 notes stashed away, I wonder if I can find it.

Love to see one of these coins in person, but I don't need enough to purchase one single or a roll before release day.
