Actually I find correct office lighting makes a massive difference. I was having real trouble with my eyes at my old work place as my boss thought a black feature wall was appropriate for the office!

When I changed jobs I actually stare at my monitor more but my eyes are better, the reason is proper lighting in the office, and enough natural light.

Funnily enough we have moved office this week and the lighting is just bad here so I am going to have to find something better as my eyes are starting to go again!

I've been told by an optometrist that starting at a computer screen or TV all day, or your phone in bed at night etc, does no damage to your eyes.
If you do have issues it is because of a pre-existing issue that gets worse with the screen use.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

It's the "blue light" that can affect the sleep, if you operate computers right before sleeping. It can reduce the production of melatonin which could cause sleeplessness or bad sleeping pattern.

I've been really interested in trying out some orange tinted glasses (i.e. blue blocker) as there is some scientific evidence regarding melatonin levels and PC monitors.

This looks like a gimmicky article but it actually has references!

I spent some time trying to work out if cheap orange tinted glasses will effectively block UVB but it's impossible to determine without specialist testing equipment. There are expensive glasses which claim they block UVB such as Gunnars Optiks, but who really knows.
