i think it's all tied to having to have a geekzone account to get the discount on the new Nexus, They really didnt like that on the Gameplanet forums and weren't backward in coming forward about what they thought of Geekzone and the membership.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

"Stuff helps me understand technology better"..

Yep ok, to get more in-depth info he should probably watch reruns of "tech in a sec" ("Dik in a tic" as my wife calls him)

Does that make me an arrogant snob?... possibly

I see my Arrogant Snob thread has been removed. I hope it is understood it was tongue in cheek and meant as a joke. I definitely did not mean any of it seriously.

nitrotech: I have no idea who made the comment but I can see how there could be that perception, so often when you make a comment or helpful suggestion you're told that you're wrong by countless individuals (whether you're wrong or not) it's like a game on one-upsmanship.

I do find myself spending less time on here because of it and choosing carefully any posts to respond to.

I see that too. What we say may be facts, or it may be opinion, but I see so often someones opinion being ridiculed, yet the ridiculer offers the facts, but thats actually his opinion. Treating a comment or the poster as an idiot, apparently increases the credibility of the ridiculer's post. To me it just shows bad attitude, and lack of class. But thats a small subset of GZ thankfully.

@steveW I dunno I find geekzoners to be decent people when meeting them in person, but when they get behind a keyboard and screen they can be socially inept, rude and tactless - Just look at some of the posts to this story from Geekzoners. They are proving the point perfectly...

That is my honest and unfortunate opinion on posts I read at Stuff. I can't help it if they post the posts they posts, read them.

I honestly don't see this but this post has 15 +1's, which is pretty high. This suggests that there is an issue.

I do see occasional examples of one-upmanship but most of the time it is just clarification by people who know more and it is not done in a spiteful fashion. This often happens to me. I know enough to be helpful on some things, but I'm not an expert on anything so when I respond to a newbie technical query, someone usually comes along later and either corrects me or expands on my answer. I don't have a problem with this and I don't feel put down when it happens. In my view, a site like Geekzone is about sharing. If someone knows more than I do about something (usually the case), why shouldn't they share that? If they didn't Geekzone would soon die.

This is unfortunate becasue the more responses there are the more likely it is that a useful solution will be found. Even where answers are wrong they still help move the topic forward.
