Zippity: We had a Champion combined washing machine/dryer 29 years ago.
It was fantastic!!
jonb: For occasional use, just get a decent dehumidifier and stick it in a small room next to a clothes horse, on laundry setting. Our Mitsubushi MJ-E26SX works well doing that.

SWMBO and I bought an F&P Smart Drive 23 years ago, to put in the house we bought - which came with a clothesline.
I had to replace the clothesline a few years ago, but the washing machine is still going.
To be fair, I have replaced the bearings and seals, the motor control board, the display board (twice), solenoid valves (twice), rotor position sensor, the lid, the waste pump, the plastic control panel overlay (twice), the lid switch, the inlet hoses, and the outer case is getting a bit dented and rusty. But there are still a few original parts still in there, possibly in good condition, the wash drum, and the motor anyway.
allio: Used one of these when staying in a Paris apartment a few months ago. The full cycle took over six hours, and at that point everything still felt steaming wet so I had to give it another hour. My clothes were then passably dry, but all my undies were shrivelled and shrunken (and still are to this day!).

I have a F&P washer I bought new probably 13 years ago, never had to do anything to it - still going strong. Got an F&P dryer 2nd hand off Trademe 9 or 10 years ago for $40, also never done anything to it and also still going strong (and was probably at least 10 years old when I bought it).
