l43a2: does anyone have a picture of what this looks like, i cant seem to make it show up.

Neither can I. Haven't looked at Stuff for quite awhile but I don't get the pop-down. Maybe Ghostery is enough to kill it.

seems they have removed the pop-down.
That was fast.
I'm assuming that the feedback must have been overwhelmingly negative for it to be removed that quickly.

I'd say absolutely positively negative for a reaction like that.

The full page ad's really annoyed me, then they introduced 15 second non-skippable ads on even 40 second video clips and that was the last straw for me.

thanks - also works for me in ublock origin.

Got a reply from stuff . . .  seems they are looking at making some changes but I find the part about positive feedback hard to believe.

Thank you for taking the time to write.

We only launched our recommended bar yesterday, so we're grateful for your prompt feedback.

The response from our readers has been generally positive, but based on feedback like yours we're introducing some changes, including removing the bar from the Stuff homepage. We're also re-thinking how the 'close' button on the recommended bar should work.

I find this tendency of companies to lie really annoying.  No way they had positive feedback but they can't admit they made a mistake.  It's all PR spin these days and it just makes them all look sneaky and dishonest.
